What you are actually buying
A useful service-business website is not just a homepage image. You are paying for someone to turn your real details — services, hours, service area, how to call you — into pages that work on a phone, load quickly, and can be found. You are also paying for what happens after launch: hosting, SSL, a working contact form, and someone to change a phone number when it changes.
When two quotes are far apart, they are usually selling different scopes. Ask each one to write down the number of pages, who writes the words, who supplies photos, whether click-to-call and a quote form are included, whether titles and structured data are included, who owns the domain and the files, and what monthly care costs.
Why US and India quotes are hard to compare
MendRev serves local service businesses worldwide. Builders in both places can deliver a good site. Labor rates, languages, payment rails and what a typical small business expects still differ, so a raw number in dollars and a raw number in rupees rarely describe the same job.
A US agency quote often assumes more project management, more rounds of revision and a higher hourly rate. An India-based freelancer quote may assume you will supply finished copy and photos, and that extra pages or SEO work will be billed later. Neither pattern is automatically better. The risk is the same in both markets: paying for a site that looks finished in a screenshot and then fails on a phone, has no form, or cannot be edited without going back to the original designer.
Currency is a separate issue from quality. A lower rupee quote converted into dollars can still be a lot of money if the scope is thin. A higher dollar quote can be fair if it includes hosting, monthly edits and a written list of pages. Compare the written scope, not the flag on the invoice.
What tends to drive the price up or down
- Number of pages. A single clear homepage is cheaper than home plus several service pages, about and contact.
- Who writes the content. If you send services, hours, areas and photos, the build is faster. If someone else has to invent copy, it takes longer — and on a MendRev site we will not invent licences, reviews or service areas.
- Integrations. Click-to-call and a form to your inbox are straightforward. Booking tools, customer portals and custom apps are not.
- Who hosts and who edits. A one-time design with no hosting plan leaves you to notice when the form breaks. Monthly care costs more up front and saves surprise rebuilds.
- Ownership. You should own your domain, your words, your photos and your customer data. Ask, in writing, when you get the site files.

How to read a quote you got somewhere else
Ask: What pages are included? Who writes them? Will it work on a phone? Where do form leads go? Do you set titles, descriptions and structured data from my real business details? Who pays for hosting next year? When do I own the files? Are rankings or lead numbers promised? If a ranking or lead number is promised, treat that as a warning — we do not make that promise, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
Then look at sample MendRev layouts (they are fictional previews, not client work) and use the HVAC website checklist or what to put on a service-business website to judge whether a quote covers the basics.
Questions
Does MendRev publish prices in rupees?
No. MendRev publishes website and voice prices in US dollars. The site footer states that all prices are in USD. If you are buying from India, ask us to confirm the USD amount and how you will pay before you start.
Is a cheaper quote always worse?
Not always. A lower quote can be a fair price for a smaller scope. It becomes a problem when the quote is vague about pages, content, ownership, mobile layout, SEO basics, hosting and who will fix the site next month.
Do you guarantee a payback or a number of leads?
No. Nobody can honestly promise rankings, traffic or leads. We publish what the site includes and what it costs.
